The Step by Step Process

There are three distinct steps in the ATA-SRO process:

  • STEP 1 - Subscription/Self Assessment
Companies use ATA-SRO Audit Tool software to perform a self assessment of current compliance processes. Companies may use the results to generate reports and archive supporting documentation from the assessment.  All documentation and results are confidential and maintained in the software module with password protected access.  The ATA-SRO Audit Tool provides a secure environment for all of the information to be uploaded into the audit tool and maintained throughout the audit process.

  • STEP 2 – ATA-SRO Certified Independent Auditor
After performing a Self Assessment, a company may hire an ATA-SRO Certified Independent Auditor to analyze the Self Assessment, perform an independent audit and conduct site visit(s) of the company. The Independent Auditor may either return the audit to the company if irregularities are found or forward a detailed analysis to the ATA-SRO Trustee Committee for accreditation consideration. Auditors are strictly prohibited from remediating any irregularities found during the independent audit. This is to ensure that no ATA-SRO Certified Independent Auditors are perceived to have purposely found discrepancies that could result in any additional benefit to the Auditor.

  • STEP 3 – Application for Accreditation/Company Accreditation
After a successful Independent Audit, a company may be recommended to the ATA-SRO Trustees for prospective accreditation, or the ATA-SRO Seal.  The company’s identity is withheld from the Trustees to avoid biasing towards applicants and the recommendation is based on the detailed analysis from the Independent Auditor.  If the Trustees have any questions, the Independent Auditor will coordinate with the company to re-examine all of the appropriate documentation.  All company documentation is considered confidential and is maintained in the software module with password protected access.
